Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the NBA’s premier scorer off the drive. The thing that stands out more than anything else is how he uses his shoulders as a weapon. Let’s roll some film.
He's been doing it for three years now. Game-changer. Jdub does it too (though not as well). Giddey in Chicago - same thing (maybe they all developed it in OKC during practice or something I don't know). Austin Reaves has started doing it now A LOT. It's super effective. Only a matter of time before many more scorers begin incorporating this technique I have to believe.
Other than a lack of flying through the air for spectacular dunks, his game is a lot like Michael Jordan's. Probably too early for that comparison, but I think it's a valid one. Same size, strength, speed, quickness and competitive desire. JDub reminds me of Pippen, too. And, the army of role players around them are a lot like what those Bulls teams had. That's all. Again, way too early.
